Kansas School Safety Hotline

In an effort to prevent school violence of any kind, the Kansas School Safety Hotline provides an anonymous, toll-free way for ANYONE to report any kind of suspicion or information indicating an impending incident of school violence.

The Hotline became operational August 1, 1999, after the Columbine tragedy, for use by students, parents, and community members in anonymously reporting any impending school violence. As of July 1, 2012, a total of 4,965 hotline calls had been logged, with 1,008 of them being referred to school districts and/or law enforcement agencies.

The hotline is a cooperative project between the Kansas State Department of Education (Kansas Safe Schools Resource Center) and the Kansas Highway Patrol. Personnel from the KHP man the call center, located in Salina, and determine when information needs to be forwarded to the school district and/or law enforcement.
