Dawn Chandler, Mental Health Coordinator

Dawn has worked in the early childhood field for 16 years, first as a parent educator for Parents as Teachers, then currently as an Early Childhood Mental Health Coordinator and consultant. Dawn received her undergraduate degree in Human Development and Family Studies from Kansas State University and her Master’s in Social Work from the University of Kansas.  Additionally, she maintains a Level II Infant Family Specialist endorsement through KAIMH, the Kansas Association of Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health. Dawn’s role with MCPC is to promote healthy social/emotional development in young children by facilitating group learning activities in preschools and child care centers, as well as to support the implementation of Conscious Discipline and Positive Behavior Intervention and Support through teacher consultation.  She is passionate about the importance of relationship and connection, not only in early brain development, but also critical to her work with families and teachers.
